MEET-CUTE | a convention of screwball comedies and their heirs, the romantic comedies, the contrived encounter of two potential romantic partners in unusual or comic circumstances, a comic situation contrived by the filmmakers entirely in order to bring them together.
● ● ●![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) meetcute is a game sort-of-kind-of-but-not-really based on the premise of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. It centers around men and women between the ages of 20 and 40. Some are single, some are engaged, some are married, some have kids. They come from different walks of life, have different jobs and different groups of friends--but every single one of them has a soulmate out there somewhere (cue the chorus of Awwwww!). You know the saying, though--you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince(ss).
There are 60 premades available, but "premade" is really a term to be used loosely--you can create your character to be whatever you want, but we've provided you with different connections: former flames, crushes, husbands, wives, fiancés and, someday, their happy ending. You're encouraged to take these connections and chat up some of your fellow players--what's they're history? How did they meet? How will they meet? It's all up to you! Also, keep in mind that the only bits of information really set in stone is the happy ending--feel free to fudge a few of the other details, just make sure to keep it interesting.
The game will take place in Washington, D.C. and its surrounding area. It's a great setting, so definitely try and take advantage of it. Romantic meeting at the Lincoln Memorial anyone? Nevermind the fact that the Lincoln Memorial isn't particularly romantic, but it does look spectacular when it's lit up at night.
